South England

In the South of England the history and culture continues. There is Kent with various medieval cathedrals, castles and remains. Canterbury is also known as an area to shop for antiques.

There are many gardens in Kent and it could take a longSouthengland time to explore them all. Especially, New Romney is a very historic village, which can offer you a wide range of sports activities as well.


You can visit Dover and see Dover Castle and the well-known white cliffs of Dover. From these chalk cliffs on a clear day you can even see the coast of France.

You should also come and visit Brighton to see the amusement piers and small seaside town with abundant nightlife. It is a gay - friendly town.

On the south coast there are many harbours around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You have opportunities for yachting and sailing here and learn about the maritime history.


Stonhenge is a cultural icon for England. You can find it in the north of Salisbury. The stones Southengland visiting-england.comarranged in a circle have been standing there for almost 5000 years. There are also other monuments and prehistoric tombs in this area.

Further south is Dorset, which is a really picturesque area with quiet villages and old lanes.
